When Inspiration comes unannounced

Inspiration has a mind of its own.

It can strike while you’re washing dishes, in a dull conversation—or, like what happened to me today, with a controller in my hand, staring at a video game that wasn’t erotic at all.

Two witches with clashing agendas and a rivalry that burns: dark magic, spells whirling in the air, tension you could practically touch… and then, suddenly, a spark: what if that crackling tension turned into something much more interesting?

That’s how the idea was born: a story about two witches who loathe each other with every fiber of their being until a brush of contact—accidental or not—reveals that, deep down, what they really want is to get lost together in their dark tower, under the moon’s silvery light, unhurried, and leaving nothing standing.

Because desire doesn’t care about enemies.

A good bout of arousal doesn’t ask for explanations either.

And writing, when it hits like this, is one of the most intense pleasures I know. I started shaping the story this afternoon and, I won’t lie—while I was writing it, I felt a delicious warmth spreading over my skin.

A silly grin, nerves buzzing, and the certainty that this is going to turn out very, very juicy. The story keeps growing: magic, hostility, touches that start as a challenge and end in blissful surrender, gothic dresses that seem to slip off on their own, and that electric current that only appears when two strong-willed women decide to set their differences aside… and start playing for real.

Has that ever happened to you? A game, a movie, a melody that got you so turned on you ended up writing (or fantasizing) something completely different?

Tell me in the comments—names optional, secrets safe. Meanwhile, the story keeps taking shape.

And when it’s ready, I’ll tell you all about it, in delicious detail.
